Entrepreneurship websites and Blogging CheatSheet

The complete guide for the enterpreneur

Introduction

We are focusing on a balance between low cost and ease of creation.

Wordpress / Squarespace / Blogger

It's best to go with wordpress / squarespace.  I find that squarespace is easier to manage and wordpress gives you more control.  Squarespace also has reasnoable plans for reasonable amount of money.  The biggest problem with squarespace is that for each site you need to pay for a plan so it's price affordable only if you have one site.

You can also go fully free, but you would have to invest some effort.  The best option I find for free bloggin is blogger platform, you can then start searching for a paid theme.

The biggest problem with blogger is that they can take it down anytime if you do something they don't like.  Like if you are heavy on affiliate and misslead your customers.  I take it you can have affiliates but if someone complains or they think you did something wrong you risk your website taken down.

Blogger (free)

If you want to invest even less time or absolutely have no knowledge then use Squarespace.  Remember it's limited for one site per monthly billing.

Create the best articles

1. Do  a google search
2. See what the best article is
3. Do one which is better than this article

Getting traffic

The general idea is this: Write content >>> email bloggers asking for a link >>> links make you appear in Google search results >>> people searching on Google find my site

1. Once you have great articles
2. Contact other bloggers tell them you have something interesting
3. If it's good enough they will share your thoughts and link back.
4. On average I'd say 2,500 words?
5. Stock photos + roundups of other blogs' photos (with permission, of course). I email them asking if they'd like to be "featured" in our roundup and if it's okay if I use one of their photos; literally only 1 person has ever said no.
6. use scrapebox to see where your competitors posted their blog posts see this. You can use mturk for them to find you the contact details of the bloggers.

On Writing Good Content

  1. If I were doing a recipe roundup post "best paleo breakfast ideas" I would hop onto Pinterest, find 25 recipes, and just compile the links in a Word doc for my writer and tell him to write a quick 25-50 word summary for each recipe.  The process is definitely not elaborate, but that's because I have great familiarity with my writer. He already knows what I want.
  2. Let's say it's "beginner's guide to the Paleo diet". I check out the top performing pages on Google, check their word counts, and then just tell my writer basically: "here's the top ranking page on Google; go write something better, longer, and more interesting" than this.  The thing is, I've been working with him since Day 1 so he already knows what I like. I don't have to give him much instruction at all.  But yes, for informational articles, I just Google the keyword and see what's already ranking well. Then our goal is to just create something more comprehensive.
